UNICO Boutique Hotel

Excellent.

I stayed for 13 days, and the hotel was clean throughout. I made a mess of my reservation, but the staff still found me a room even though they were at capacity. I had to switch rooms once because of my booking mistake. Both rooms were really nice, with no carpet, which I appreciated, nice colors, and a great shower with a ceiling-mounted head. The staff were all polite and professional. The location was excellent and easy to find, right on a main road. Even there, the town is so small that you don't really hear traffic in the room. Across the street are three grocery stores, plus a beverage store and a gas station. Several restaurants are a 10 to 15-minute walk away, so there's no need to hunt for parking. There are also three bakeries with delicious treats. It's a wine city too, with at least three places for tastings if that's your thing. Frankfurt airport is very close, about 15 minutes away without traffic. Mainz and Wiesbaden are about 15 minutes away with traffic and the time it takes to find parking, and Frankfurt is about 30 minutes away. My one complaint is that reception isn't staffed around the clock. After hours there's nobody to ask about interesting local places to see or eat. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone who needs quick access to Mainz, Wiesbaden, or Frankfurt, or just wants a quiet, relaxing place to stay for a few days. You won't be disappointed.

We came for a conference, and the staff clearly put a lot of effort into making our stay pleasant. The rooms are spacious, larger than in most hotels, and beautifully done. Service was attentive, parking was available and free, and the breakfast, snacks, and lunch we had at the hotel were all truly excellent. A very nice hotel.

My room was absolutely clean, with a lovely design, plenty of lights, and modern touches like LAN and USB outlets. The floor looked like parquet but seemed to be vinyl, which I actually liked for hygiene. The cupboards and drawers had pull-down mechanisms, and the temperature was controlled digitally. The double bed was comfortable. There were a few small shortcomings: the bedside tables were too small and too far from the bed, and the light switches were also hard to reach from bed. There was no bottle opener for the minibar drinks. The bathroom door wouldn't close and needs adjusting. The bathroom had just one towel hook, which isn't really enough for a double room, and nowhere to hang a toiletry bag. It was also the first hotel I'd used without an extra makeup or shaving mirror. There's no extra bathroom heater either, and I couldn't tell whether the room temperature setting also controlled the bathroom. In the morning, I'd prefer the bathroom warmer than the bedroom, but it didn't seem that way. Booking through booking.com was straightforward. Since I arrived the same day, I got a discount and paid less than the room price listed on the website. Finding the main entrance took some effort. I assumed it was on the street, but it's actually at the back, in the courtyard. There are no signs pointing it out, which reception confirmed. That's unusual for a new hotel. Check-in was easy, and I didn't even need an ID. I'd already sent my details and paid online. I booked one night without breakfast. My room, 211, faced the main road, opposite the Rewe-Markt and Aldi/Lidl. In summer, with the window open, the high volume of visitors could make it noisy. In short, it's a modern new hotel with a few missing features, but nothing that changes my positive impression. Check-in and check-out were great, everything felt up to date, and there was plenty of free parking. Other hotels could take a cue from that instead of charging too much for parking as an extra source of income.
