The peaceful setting and thoughtful hospitality helped us settle down after a really stressful day. Peterhof felt like something from a fairytale, and it was the most idyllic place we stayed during our travels in Europe. Alexandra and Gordon welcomed us with a tour and made us feel at home. We'd ended up stranded on our way to the 2023 Wacken Open Air festival after organizers stopped admissions on the first day because of unprecedented rainfall. We'd come from Canada and rented a camper van, and while we were trying to work out a backup plan, Peterhof's owners, Alexandra and Gordon, reached out to stranded attendees on social media and offered refuge at their inn. We gladly changed course and stayed the evening, then left in the wee hours to enter the festival, long story. I don't usually write reviews, but these are genuinely caring people who helped us when we needed it. Alex and Gordon, you saved our butts, and you'll always have a place to stay in Canada.

The hotel is far from everything, and the nearest restaurant is a 15-20 minute drive away. There isn't a restaurant at the hotel either. For the price, the value felt poor. The rooms are large, but a bit dirty. There wasn't enough room to work with a standard notebook, and the desk was way too small. The washroom was in bad shape, old style, and poorly renovated some years ago. The door hardware was rusty and squeaked like hell.

Being a little in the middle of nowhere is part of the charm here. The staff will go out of their comfort zone to help anyone, even if you have specific personal needs. Best hospitality in Germany. They made the stay memorable.

The beautiful view and this 400-year-old house made for an unforgettable stay.

A really beautiful place, both inside and out. It's quaint and a little out of the way.
