Schmalzenhof

The homemade cider is well worth trying, and the cozy granary/snack room was a real pleasure to visit. We went to Schmalzenhof for the first time two weeks ago and loved the homemade food. The organic Limousin rump steak and Stüble burger, made with a homemade brioche bun and organic beef patty, were a real treat. It's a beautifully situated farm in the Kinzig Valley, with cattle, Black Forest horses, and Swiss Mountain Dogs. We'd like to return, maybe for brunch or a traditional Black Forest farmer's snack. I'd suggest calling ahead depending on your plans, since the granary can be booked for private events. We'll definitely be back, and recommend it to anyone who values homemade, high-quality food and appreciates the work behind it.

The food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is super nice, with a fantastic view.

We got two packed lunches for our mountain bike tour, and the owners were very welcoming. Everything that needed wrapping was in paper, which I thought was fantastic, with no plastic or similar waste. The drinks came in returnable glass bottles. Highly recommended!

The quality of the meat products and snack bar food is outstanding. The Schmalzenhof farm brings together livestock, a village shop, a snack bar, and a holiday apartment in a well-thought-out concept. The holiday apartment itself is a dream and lacks nothing, and the Neumaier family are very kind and welcoming hosts. Anyone would feel comfortable and relaxed here. We've already booked again for next year.
