PETERS Hotel & Spa

The room was cramped, with a tiny desk that had to be cleared just to fit my 13-inch laptop. There was no fridge, and the shower had no curtain or door, so the bathroom was flooded afterward. I also found a live cockroach in the room (see picture). Breakfast wasn’t much better. Nobody greeted me, just asked, “Zimmernummer?” I waited 15 minutes at my table for an omelet, then had to go find the waitress to place the order. The trouble started before I even arrived. I’d booked two rooms, but my colleague couldn’t make the trip. I told the hotel three days ahead, and they immediately said I’d owe a cancellation fee of 75% of the room’s price. I explained I was still staying there and only needed to change the booking because of unforeseen circumstances. When I raised it again at the nearly empty hotel, they showed no flexibility and told me, “Your colleague not joining is not our problem but your problem.” I’d expected a pleasant stay at a hotel that presents itself as nice on its website. You’d expect more from a luxury hotel.

The views were lovely, and the spa gave us a relaxing break during a very busy trip through Europe. We stayed a few nights, and it was a great spot to get away and unwind. Our rooms were spacious and very clean, and the food was wonderful. They even accommodated my daughter’s very strict dietary restrictions. There were plenty of activities too. We mostly relaxed, while my kids enjoyed riding bikes and taking paddle boats out. I’m so glad we found this place and would love to come back sometime.

After a long drive, we spent one night here and had a really good time. The spa was a nice way to unwind, then we had a delicious dinner with generous portions. I also enjoyed a swim in the pool the next morning before breakfast and the long drive ahead. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The hotel, rooms, and spa were all very clean, and there was plenty to choose from at the bar. I’m definitely thinking of coming back for a couple of days to relax and walk around the lake.

The new hotel and spa sit in a peaceful spot by a small lake, with lovely views. There’s a great beer garden nearby as well as an alpine-style hut restaurant. We found the food good and the service friendly. We didn’t get to try the spa or swimming pool, but if they’re like the rest of the hotel, they must be great.
