Hotel-Restaurant Breitenbacher Hof

The meal was the highlight, and service was lovely. Once we were seated, the food came promptly, and our waiter was courteous and professional. We took the tram here, and the restaurant is a one-minute walk from Hürth Fischenich tram station. It opens at 5 pm. We arrived half an hour early and were asked to wait, so we walked around the block and spent some time at Rosellenplatz, a lovely little park about three minutes away. We returned at 5 and got a table without a reservation. By 6 pm the place was completely full, with no free tables on the terrace, even though it was Tuesday. Locals clearly like coming here with friends and family, so reservations are strongly advised. We began with chanterelle soup and carpaccio de manzo. The soup came in a large bowl, with a generous amount of mushrooms, and was thick and tasty. The carpaccio was fairly standard and a little overchilled, which left the texture somewhat watery. We ordered three chanterelle mains. Each had the same mushroom sauce, so the chanterelles were prepared in much the same way, but the sauce was very good, creamy and light, and the mushroom portions were generous. The Summer Plate had chicken breast with that sauce, fried potatoes, zucchini and a small salad. The chicken was tender and juicy, the potatoes tasted homemade, and the salad was very fresh with a light dressing. We also had veal and rump steak. The steak, ordered medium rare, was cooked perfectly. The veal was good too, though the rump steak had more flavour. The potato croquettes served with both meats were delicious and not oily at all. I’d love to come back.
