Gollwitzer Park (Insel Poel) 15262

Gollwitz is extremely quiet, perhaps too quiet for some. The restaurant shut at 8:00 p.m., and after that the whole place seemed to close down. If you want total peace, plan to cook for yourself, and enjoy long walks or endless cycling, it may suit you well. We were there over Easter in an attic apartment, and the low ceiling caught me by surprise. Anyone 1.9 meters tall would have a hard time. There was barely any equipment, and I hadn’t even realized there was no sink. That was really inconvenient. It’s 2025, and surely water pipes could be installed. I can’t imagine being stuck there through several rainy days. On the good side, it was very clean and genuinely close to the beach.

The apartment was clean, roomy, and comfortable, with lots of DVDs and board games, plus a few books for wet weather. The bathroom was clean apart from a toilet brush that should be replaced, and the shower had plenty of space. The Wi-Fi, though, was hit or miss and very unreliable. That’s a real problem when you’re trying to plan the next day in the evening. There should also be a sign in the parking lot showing where each house is, since we spent quite a while searching. We stayed in house number 9, number 2. Update 24/08/25: If the Wi-Fi isn’t working, there’s a small adapter above the display cabinet opposite the kitchenette. Unplug it, wait a moment, then plug it back in. That should sort it out.

Gollwitz is a quiet little village and a good place for birdwatching. The beach is about 500 meters away, though the water is very shallow and not suitable for swimming. The apartment worked well for a family, and dogs are welcome. There’s a playground on site. We had three rooms: a bedroom, living room with kitchen, and a children’s room with bunk beds, as well as a bathroom and balcony. There were plenty of dishes and the place was well equipped.
