Hotel An Der Sauer

The stay started badly, with an unsafe and unwelcoming feel as soon as we arrived late in the evening for our two-night booking. We couldn't find anywhere to eat, so we came back to the hotel and were met by a dog barking and growling at us. The owner just smiled and smoked while we stood in front of it. She said it was okay, but wouldn't move the dog or help us get into the hotel we were paying for. Eventually it moved aside and we got in. At breakfast the next morning, the chocolate milk was spoiled. The owner seemed surprised we were leaving and said I had other problems, because I'd slammed my room door the previous night, rather than problems with the dog. I've worked in hospitality for 10 years, and I think this hotel should be shut down.

I stayed in room 2 from November 16th to 23rd, 2015. I can't speak for the other rooms, but I can only advise against booking this one. The place was a joy to spend a few days in, what with the peeling wallpaper, dangerously faulty light switches, and someone else's hair on the bedspread. The walls had stains in a suspicious color, and a cable dangled beside the bed because there was no outlet on the nightstand. Outside, the fly screens were completely ripped. The bathroom door had holes, the shower was rotten, and the power strips were filthy. There was also what looked like dried vomit behind the trash can. The single-glazed windows faced a busy main road, which I could have put up with. The room wasn't cleaned once during my stay. I reported the TV on the first day, but nobody did anything. It only worked again after I put new batteries in the remote. Check my photos, I'm not exaggerating. Definitely avoid room 2. I can't say how the others are, but honestly, why would they be any different?
