We were three couples, and the team at Markthotel gave us such a warm, friendly welcome. Their service was excellent. It was no problem to have four extra people join us for breakfast, even though they weren’t staying at the hotel, so we could all enjoy a lovely, delicious meal together as a family. Everything was within easy reach from this perfectly located hotel, and I’d happily come back. The staff were glad to accommodate requests, and breakfast was more than ample. The rooms were bright, spacious, and top-notch, with a lovely bathroom and a heavenly bed. We also got a very warm welcome.

The rooms were noisy because of the surrounding area, and the cheap furnishings had plenty of small damages, including a hole in the sink and a broken kitchenette. We waited outside for an hour to get our key, after searching online for a phone number because the listed numbers couldn’t be reached and reception was extremely difficult to contact. Some belongings we’d forgotten weren’t returned until several days later, even though we’d planned to collect them that same day.

Breakfast was the only thing that earned this hotel two stars. It was okay, but special requests such as decaf coffee were ignored completely, without even a “Sorry, we don’t have that.” I booked for a weekend because of the central location and modern rooms, and was very disappointed. We couldn’t get a personal welcome at reception. The staff were rude and didn’t speak German; at breakfast, nobody even said “good day” or “good morning.” The room was the last straw. It was narrow and long, and although renovated, the flooring was badly installed, with missing sections along the edges and other parts curling up, which was a risk of injury. When we asked about it, we were told the matter was apparently with a lawyer and the floor could only be replaced by closing the hotel, which they apparently didn’t want to do at the moment. The bathroom was unacceptable too: a noisy instantaneous water heater, cheap shower fittings that partly didn’t work, and no functioning fan. I think the condition of the rooms should be disclosed beforehand, or they shouldn’t be offered in this state. In my opinion, this kind of disrepair may not even be legally allowed for hotel rentals. I paid over 90 euros a night for this.
