Zur Sonne

I stayed at the Sonne for 11 days while working and was very happy with it, despite the negative comments I’ve seen. The owner greeted me warmly at check-in, showed me my room, and gave me a quick introduction to the hotel. I ate at the restaurant several times and had no complaints about the broad menu, food quality, or staff. I love ordering schnitzel and hearing it being pounded in the kitchen. To me, that’s a sure sign it’s freshly prepared rather than pre-made. I could go on about it, but I’ll just say I highly recommend the hotel. If work brings me back to the area, I’ll stay there again.

Breakfast was good 👍, but I wouldn't recommend the rooms. Our double room was very dirty and clearly hadn't been aired out for a long time. They should at least have swept it before we arrived, especially since they knew guests were coming. The place needs renovation, and being right on the main road doesn't help. The windows are single-glazed and don't work properly.

We were eight people, and every one of us found the food inedible. The sauces especially were far too salty, and the different dishes were all unpleasant to eat. Service made the evening worse. The restaurant was practically empty, but staff seemed annoyed from the start and were unfriendly. We had to call out to get attention, and eventually even phoned the restaurant to ask for water after our glasses had been empty for ages. The food was incredibly salty too. They offered two desserts on the house after we complained. It was a nice gesture, but nowhere near enough to make up for the experience. We won't be back, and strongly advise others against going. Please warn people!

I went with my family for my grandma's birthday, and we all left outraged. The food was inedible from being so heavily salted. I usually add plenty of salt myself, but I still couldn't eat it. The fries were the only thing that wasn't oversalted. The service was just as upsetting. My grandma had ordered a Coke Zero but was given a regular Coke, so I politely went to the bar to mention the mix-up. The man behind the counter looked at me almost disgustedly and yelled, asking why I'd already given her a free drink. The waitress fortunately told him she had given it to her, and he silently replaced it. I thought maybe it was just a bad day, but then heard other people had the same experience. I'm completely dissatisfied and hope the restaurant sees this and works on it.
