Victoria Appartement

We left without our €200 deposit and are still trying to sort it out. We visited on May 8th. Before arriving, we’d been told everything would be arranged, but we never met the owner in person and had to handle all communication by phone. His daughter, or someone we believe was his daughter, gave us the keys and asked for a €200 cash deposit, which we paid. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all during our stay, and the apartment seemed old and worn. The bathroom light was out. To change the water temperature, we had to use a boiler-like device outside the shower, which was very impractical. We had to leave around 4 AM, so we contacted the owner ahead of time to arrange getting our deposit back. He didn’t answer our message, so we called. After a long, difficult conversation, he said he’d transfer the money after we checked out. He wouldn’t let us collect it ourselves or come by the night before to return it in person. We sent our bank details as requested once we’d left. Then he kept saying he hadn’t seen our messages, stopped replying, and didn’t answer our calls. I don’t understand why they required such a large cash deposit, especially given the condition of the apartment. Communication was really poor, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
