We were near the mouth of the Schlei fjord, at almost the far end of the holiday village, so the construction work didn’t bother us at all. In the evenings, if you’re lucky, you can even spot porpoises from the terrace and film them. The ground-floor apartment was in great shape. All the kitchen appliances and utensils, from the pots and pans to the cutlery, worked perfectly.

Olpenitz is lovely for long bike rides, and Kappel is close by. The holiday apartment was nicely furnished, too.

The apartment was quite dirty when we arrived, which cost it two stars for me, especially with the €75 cleaning fee. There’s definitely room to improve the cleaning. All in all, though, I’d still recommend it. The location is fantastic, close to a small private beach, while the main beach is about 1.5 km away. It’s modern and functionally furnished, with everything you need. My favorite thing was the wonderful sun lounger. I was disappointed by how the partially tinted windows obscured the water view, almost like looking through sunglasses. I also think privacy blinds and cushions for the garden furniture are missing.
