Molenhuus

Kappeln, Maasholm, and Geltinger Bick were our favorite places to visit. For food, we especially recommend the restaurant at the Hotel Schleimünde for its sensational cooking, and Alte Schmiede Kappeln for breakfast and cakes. Of course, tastes vary, but these were standouts for us. The apartment was in mint condition and spotless. The landlord was pleasant from our first inquiry through arrival, and had everything we needed, including useful information, ready for us. Many thanks to Uwe Thauern and the Molenhuus team.

The apartment had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and even a selection of games. It was nicely furnished and had everything we needed for five people and our dog over New Year's Eve. The price felt reasonable, and booking through arrival all went smoothly. Mr. Thauern was very friendly and always available. It was a quiet, pleasant place to stay on the peninsula, apart from a few idiots setting off fireworks despite the New Year's Eve ban. I suppose you find them everywhere. I hope Germany bans the sale of firecrackers and rockets soon.

We stayed in the Seahorse and Tern apartments on the ground floor in April. The sea view was lovely, and the water felt incredibly close. Both apartments had just been renovated and were very well equipped. Our landlord was friendly and easy-going, too. We'd happily come back!

The sea views from the balcony are stunning, especially at sunrise. You can even see the sun come up from the bed in one of the bedrooms 😜. To the left, there’s the Schlei estuary and its boat traffic, plus the neighboring nature reserve. If you’re lucky, you might spot porpoises in the shallow water of the otherwise wide Baltic Sea 🤩. "Dat Molenhuus" is a beautifully built apartment complex in a prime spot, right by the Baltic Sea. Everything was spotless. The apartment felt like home straight away, with tasteful maritime, northern-style decor and lots of thoughtful details. It had all we needed, from appliances and kitchenware to a wood-burning stove, comfy beds, big bedroom wardrobes, and lovely bathrooms with dimmable lights. The house was wonderfully quiet, with no noise from neighbors, the elevator, or the stairwell. With the window open, we did hear some construction noise across the street. The well-equipped wellness area in the building is great for sauna fans. Edeka nearby has the basics, and Rewe and Aldi are a five-minute drive away. Kappeln, with more shops, is another three minutes beyond that. We only stayed for a week this time, but it won’t be our last at "Dat Molenhuus" ☝️. Thanks for a sunny, peaceful week ☀️ Family G. Lenz
