We’d happily stay again. Everything was organized smoothly, and Strand 18 kept in touch in a friendly, straightforward way. They were always reachable, even over the Christmas holidays, which made the stay in Karlshagen a real pleasure.

I can’t recommend this place. The house managed by this agency was reasonably equipped, though it didn’t have Wi-Fi. The bigger problem was the service, which was awful. House Claire was in very poor condition. Dead mosquitoes, some smeared with blood, were all over the walls, including beside the bed. There were cobwebs, broken bedside tables, a loosely attached lamp, and curtains that weren’t hung properly at the patio door. The bathroom floor stayed wet because the shower wouldn’t drain. For the price, it simply wasn’t worth it. We showed management photos and videos of the problems. The man we spoke to didn’t apologize or show understanding. He immediately said they were legally in the clear, brushed off our complaints as not that bad, and asked why we minded. When we complained about the mosquitoes, two women removed some of them, but the ones on the ceiling stayed because they were too high. Later, we were told it was normal to have blood and mosquitoes on the ceiling since they couldn’t reach it. There was no apology. We also raised the poor cleaning. Their answer was that it had been done, just inadequately, and that they had therefore met their obligation. We felt they cared only about tourists’ money, not doing a good job. They refused a goodwill refund, which we thought was appropriate, and insisted everything was legally in order. They said a caretaker would come to fix the problems, but nobody showed up. He later claimed he had called us twice, though there were no missed calls on our phone and the office had the right number. There was no hospitality or respect for guests. The service fee was almost €180 for two nights, which felt like pure extortion. Other reviews suggest we may not be the first to have this experience. We also saw claims that unfavorable reviews get deleted, which makes it seem like guests’ concerns aren’t taken seriously. They just wanted us out of the office as quickly as possible. We were almost lucky to have booked just a weekend, not a longer stay.
