ibis Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof

I expected noise from the busy street, trams, and nearby railway station, but was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the rooms were, with very little street noise. We booked at the last minute in an emergency, with pets and a wheelchair user in our party. The staff were incredibly helpful, arranging connecting ground-floor rooms and helping with our luggage. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable.

The reception staff gave us a warm welcome and made check-in efficient after our long journey. They were helpful and informative, and the location is perfect for getting around, next to Hbf and in front of Bahn station. During our four nights, the room wasn't cleaned once, and one breakfast option had run out. Breakfast wasn't included.

We had five rooms for four nights for work, and everyone was fairly happy with the rooms and breakfast. But we were shocked and angry at how one front desk employee treated us, and I won't come back because of him. For three nights in a row, housekeeping threw away my toothpaste, so I had to ask for a dental kit each time. On the third night I was charged 1,5€, which surprised me, but I accepted it. The receptionist tossed the toothpaste onto the front desk from about 1.5 meters away. This was Saturday night November 22nd around 11pm, and there are cameras. He wore a Starbucks hoodie that looked unprofessional and wasn't supportive. I had questions about parking before paying the 26 euros for two days, but instead of answering, he kept saying “pay first pay first” and ignored me disrespectfully. I know what to expect from a 2 or 3 star hotel, but disrespecting a guest is never OK. I was in Karslruhe for work and didn't need that after a long day. I regret staying here. Worst experience ever. Afterward I read the reviews and bet this was the same employee who'd had bad reviews before.

The tram stop is right outside, and it's only about a five-minute walk to the main train station. My room has been comfortable and clean, and the staff are so kind and caring. I got upset this morning and went to the front desk for a tissue. The ladies took time to talk with me, which meant a lot. I really appreciated it. Thank you, and sorry I'm so bad with names. I'd highly recommend this hotel; it's been perfect for my stay in Karlsruhe.
