The room was clean and everything else seemed in order, but breakfast wasn't available at all. One of our key cards failed at 1 am, and with no staff on site after hours we had to call the number for help. The person on the phone was awful: impatient when we couldn't follow the directions, talking to us like idiots, and audibly frustrated. The fix was quite simple, but she made it feel as though she were the one locked out in the middle of the night.

The restaurant does some of the finest steaks I’ve had, and the hotel was spotless and very comfortable. It got really hot in Karlsruhe last week, so I missed having air conditioning, though that’s a very minor complaint. I’ll definitely stay again.

The one drawback is the distance from the city centre, which isn’t an easy walk. Otherwise it’s a lovely little hotel, with nicely designed rooms and bathrooms, new furniture, and a very clean room. Breakfast was surprisingly good, with plenty of choices for the whole family.

The location worked well for getting food and public transport, and having a Rewe nearby was handy. My room was in good shape, and the staff were really friendly.

There are two playgrounds nearby, which we really enjoyed. I stayed three nights with my family, including my two-year-old daughter, and the room was cosy. We had everything we needed, and the staff were genuinely nice and helpful.
