Felix Hotel Kaufbeuren

The cow theme gave the place a funny atmosphere, and the staff were really friendly. The location was good too, close to beautiful mountain scenery. I arrived around midnight but had no trouble getting my room key: after checking in, you collect it from a machine in the hallway. Room service was fine, and we got clean towels when we asked. Breakfast was a regular buffet, fine for the price.

The rooms were spacious and beautiful, and we had a very good stay overall. The hotel is close to the old town, with several places to eat and shop within walking distance. The quality was good for the price, though the breakfast buffet seemed a little expensive for what it offered. Cleaning is available on request only. We’d recommend the hotel.

It’s an affordable base for day trips to Füssen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, Ottobeuren, and Kempten. The hotel is near the old town, the train station, and a couple of nice dinner options.

The rooms are a little too Bavarian for my taste, with grass carpet and goats staring at you from the shower. Still, the room, sheets, and bathroom were clean, though there’s nothing fancy about the place and amenities are sparse. Parking costs 9 Euro per night, even though it’s fairly easy to park for free on the street opposite, so I don’t understand the charge. Breakfast costs extra and is very basic. You can get better coffee and a breakfast roll for less at the grocery store next door.
