The hotel has great food and cold beer, but you’ll need a car to get around. A taxi to Strasburg for the Christmas market is 50 dollars one way. Walking through town to the train takes 15 minutes and can be very cold and rainy. The ticket machine wasn’t easy to use or understand in German, and the train was overcrowded. I’d rather pay more to stay closer to the Xmas market than lose so much time taking the train every day.

I stayed there in 2007 on a school trip to Strasbourg and the European Parliament with a group of students from Ireland. The local owner spoke excellent English, which was a relief, since I knew very little German. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
