Airport Hotel Zum Taubengrund

There are two buildings with rooms, and I can't say whether they were all the same, but mine was strange: the shower was inside the room, and spiders were wandering around. The sheets and towels were clean. The toilet was outside and shared by everyone staying there. The corridors and building smelled of cigarettes and cheap perfume, and there were tiny flies at the breakfast table. Some of the breakfast products were close to expiring. Nasty place. I won't be back. I didn't expect this quality in Germany.

I booked an overnight stop at Hotel Zum Taubengrund and got an email about the stay, in German only, saying check-in ENDS at 19:00. That seems unreasonable for an airport hotel, where people may arrive too late to make their connecting flight. More than a week before arriving, I emailed several times through booking.com and to the hotel's direct address to explain my later arrival and arrange late check-in. Nobody replied. When I got there, the hotel was locked, with no way to reach anyone. Their email service may be out of order, but they could still charge my card for a room I couldn't access. There are other hotels near Frankfurt Airport at comparable prices. I'd look elsewhere so you don't end up stranded.

Works for an overnight near Frankfurt Airport before an early flight or during a long layover. Definitely not a vacation spot!

The restaurant served delicious, fresh food, and I even got a photo with the lovely chef and owner. I really enjoyed the stay, and the customer service was excellent.
