Parking can be hard to find, and you’ll need a car to get into the city. You also have to check in at the bar first. Still, it’s a decent place for the price.

The two staff members we met were really polite and friendly, and breakfast had plenty to choose from. I liked the food at the pub, though the menu might feel limited if you’re not into Schnitzel. The pub also serves dinner and breakfast, but it smelled of cigarettes, which wasn’t pleasant. Our three-person room was quite small, with just two outlets for a family with phones or tablets. The old-fashioned style wasn’t appealing to me. I suppose those drawbacks come with the low price. I didn’t find it an enjoyable hotel, though it could have been much worse.

I slept well on the bed and didn’t wake up with the backache I get at home every morning. The location is handy for Trier, Luxembourg, the French border, and Saarland. Friendly service, too.

It had a real home-away-from-home feel. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, and the shower had strong pressure. The food was awesome, too.
