Hotel Astor Kiel by Campanile

Our clean, quiet room had a lovely view of the Christmas market below. We had a huge three-person room, oddly bare and with space that could have been used for a couch and table. The bathroom was also huge, except for the tiny shower. Breakfast on the 10th floor came with excellent views of Kiel harbour. The food was decent, including eggs, bacon, sausage and delicious blueberry muffins.

The room had a bad smell that didn't go away, even after we opened the windows for long stretches and froze in February temperatures. The furniture is old, and the walls and floors look worn from time and guests. The hotel staff at reception and in the restaurant were nice and provided good service, and the location is great.

The single rooms are adequate, the location is great and the staff are friendly. But each morning the cleaners moved furniture around for hours, making it impossible to sleep. Felt on the furniture legs would solve the noise and protect the floor too. A win-win.

The staff were really nice and helpful, but that's the only good thing I found here. The beds are horrible, and the place was warm and dusty with no air conditioning. It feels like they haven't invested a cent in it. The streets are more comfortable than this place, so don't throw your money away staying here.
