Hotel Zum Blauen Hecht

We loved our stay. Everything was very clean, indoors and out, and the staff gave excellent service. The hotel is by a river, with mountains around it and lots of ways to explore the nature there. The city centre is about a 20-minute walk away, with some decent options for an evening out. Breakfast was exceptionally good and surprisingly high quality. It's a lovely place for a couple of days. The restaurant was closed on Saturday evening for a wedding, but we never heard the guests, so there was no noise to worry about.

There was plenty of parking, and the location in the valley was central. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The restaurant had excellent food and very good service, while still feeling atmospheric and welcoming to people beyond hotel guests.

We booked this hotel as a transfer stop, and it was meant to be paid for as well. Out of courtesy, we tried calling about an hour and a half before arriving around 10 p.m. to let them know we’d be late. Nobody picked up despite several calls, and we started getting worried. At check-in, the man said he’d been busy serving people at a table. Then he said there was no reservation. When we asked him to check again, he got annoyed. I asked if he could call a nearby hotel, but he just handed me the number and told me to call myself. Luckily, they had a room. I found the place unreliable for a transit stop and the response pretty rude.

The rooms are spacious, modern, very clean, and the renovation looks chic. The owner was friendly, though a little distant, and breakfast was good. Because of the pandemic, the restaurant wasn't available, and the nearest one was a mile away in town.
