Right in the middle of the village, the hotel is close to the tourist office and supermarket, and the train station is an eight-minute walk away. The train to Freiburg takes 15 minutes, so it’s a handy base for exploring the Black Forest or the city. We had the suite, which gave mother and daughter separate twin beds. The room was clean and spacious, the beds were super comfortable, and the balcony had a lovely view. The shower was relaxing too. Breakfast was included and had plenty of choice. We also liked the quaint, relaxing restaurant and its great food. Try the turkey! Service was excellent, professional, and helpful. A brilliant place for a relaxing stay.

The Konus card was a real bonus, with free train and bus travel throughout the Black Forest. Kirchzarten itself is a lovely little town, with walks starting right outside the hotel, plenty of restaurants, a gorgeous ice cream shop, and an excellent municipal swimming pool for families. Our room was cleaned every day, and the staff were lovely. Breakfast included muesli, nuts and seeds, fruit, yogurt, ham, salami, cheese, different breads, jams, juice, and fresh coffee. It was very hot while we were there, though, and with no air conditioning or cool lounge to retreat to, that was a downside. The hotel restaurant was good, but could have offered more variety and imagination. We had a lovely stay and remember the hotel and staff fondly.

There are lots of vegetarian choices on the menu, and the staff were friendly and professional. Dinner was delicious, traditionally prepared, and beautifully presented in a generous portion. Great value, and I was very satisfied with the whole experience. Five stars for the restaurant.
