Hof Rodenkrog

We felt at home quickly in the apartment. It’s thoughtfully furnished, well equipped, and the owners are attentive and friendly. Hof Rodenkrog sits in the beautiful Holstein Switzerland countryside, and we had a wonderful holiday there. We’ll definitely return.

What stood out most was how quiet Rodenkrog is, even though shops, the sea, the beach, and busier places are easy to reach by car. We had a wonderful two weeks there, father, mother, and our boys, aged 9 and 11, and we’ll definitely come back. Claus von der Osten and his family were incredibly friendly. Their farm is set in the Holstein Switzerland countryside, reached by a well-kept track past fields, pastures, hedges, and mature trees. The farm and holiday apartment are lovingly put together, with wooden floors, Danish windows and doors, and little picturesque corners throughout. There’s a wild rose hedge with an outdoor shower, hydrangeas in pots, hollyhocks, and lady’s mantle. Swallows dart around the house, horses graze in the paddock, the chickens provide eggs, and the two energetic tomcats bring some mischief.

The apartment was very nice and well furnished, and the landlords were great. We woke to birdsong in this very quiet location. The mattresses weren’t quite right for older people like us, though. Hohwacht Bay on the Baltic Sea was easy to reach, and Fehmarn took less than an hour. If we feel like visiting the Baltic Sea again, Rodenkrog will be our first choice.

Very cozy, with a lovely setting. It’s suitable for children and feels almost like a farm holiday. The landlords are very nice too.
