Bahnhof ERZINGEN hotel coffee & more

The café breakfast was included, which I wasn’t expecting. There were hardboiled eggs, sliced meats, bread, cheese and fruit, and it was fresh, tasty and filling. The woman working there even served me at the table. She was the only employee I spoke with during my stay, and that was totally fine with me. Checking out was simple too: I returned my key at the kiosk. The fee for not returning it had been made clear at check-in, so there were no surprises. I’d been awake for around 18 hours on only two hours of sleep when I arrived, after boarding the wrong train in Schaffhausen. It was the last train of the night, and when I realized it was going the opposite way, I got off at the next stop, Erzingen. I didn’t know where I’d spend the night until I saw this hotel right in front of me. The kiosk offered several languages, including English, so signing in was easy. I think the rate was about €120. I entered my details, paid by card, and the machine gave me a key and room number. The room was clean, modern and roomy. Its bathroom was oddly as large as the bedroom, maybe larger. Mine had what seemed like two Twin beds pushed together, which didn’t bother me, and a TV with German, Swiss and French channels. I can’t say whether there were different room sizes, since I was so tired. If the other rooms are like mine, each one is private and has its own bathroom. The hotel looks like it’s been renovated in the past few years, though much of the building’s original character is still there. The key card also opened the door beside the kiosk, leading up the stairs and along the main hallway to the rooms. For anyone wondering about the nearby train tracks, I didn’t hear a train go by after about 9:45 pm, even on Friday. I’m a heavy sleeper, but none woke me in the morning either. Both DB and an SBB local train serve the platform. This hotel was there at exactly the right time and exceeded my expectations. 10/10. I’d stay again if I’m in the area.

The service was excellent.

I’d gladly come back. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the staff were friendly and motivated. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious, and breakfast was excellent.

Parking is free, though there aren’t many spaces. The self-check-in setup works, the rooms are okay, and it’s good value for the money.
