They put us in the wrong room, then tried to move us while we were dripping wet after a shower. The waiters also asked for a tip while serving the food. Not a great impression.

The riverside setting is lovely, and the hotel is clean, though very basic. There are no tea or coffee facilities or A/C in the rooms. It’s beside a busy mainline railway. The food was nice and service was good until we paid the bill, when the waiter told us €12 wasn’t enough of a tip. I really wasn’t happy about that. Still, it’s a nice spot to sit and watch the world go by on the Rhine.

Breakfast was excellent, including the coffee, which is rarely this good. The Biergarten across the street by the river is wonderful, and the waiter there does a great job. The dinner choices weren’t as appealing and felt a little pricey for what you get: fries, meat and a small salad all crowded onto one plate. The rooms are tiny and basic, but clean and cheap, and the bathroom is almost closet-sized. There’s a busy train line behind the hotel, so they provide earplugs for rooms at the back. There was no WiFi. Still, between breakfast and the Biergarten, it’s a good stopover. Recommended.

The rooms were clean, but really hot, and we were given two twin rooms even though we’d booked one double and one twin. After a long drive with lots of road closures, we arrived at 7:52 p.m. and were told the kitchen had closed, so we had to drive into town for food. That was disappointing, since even something small and easy would have been fine. The hotel is near the train line and provides earplugs, a nice touch, though the noise wasn’t bad at all. Air conditioning would have been more useful. The staff weren’t especially friendly.
