The food was tasty and good quality, and it came out quickly, in nearly ten minutes. The nostalgic atmosphere made for a comfortable visit. Staff communication could be better, though. One person said strawberry ice cream was available, while another said it wasn't, and I had to ask for the drinks menu. Those gaps took away from the experience a bit, but I enjoyed my last visit overall.
The old portraits of stars, famous and less so, hint at the hotel's grand past. It's right in the pedestrian zone, centrally placed and not far from the train station. But the place has aged, and it badly needs renovation. Its dusty, worn charm feels out of time, and it may soon be out of time for good. If you like that sort of decaying character, you'll feel at home. Everyone else might want to wait for the renovation.
The food was always good, but it was strange that the chef wouldn't make anything for us after 9 pm, especially on a weekend.
We're always glad to come back. The food is very good, the service is friendly, and the chef usually greets you in person. I'd especially recommend the Ragout Fin as a starter. You can't get it anywhere else.
The furnishings are a little dated, but everything was spotlessly clean. The owner was very friendly, breakfast was good, and the price was good value. It's centrally located in Kronach.
