Hotel Poseidon

The owner was very friendly, the hotel is nicely furnished, and everything is easy to get to. I slept well at first, but once the rain started, a broken gutter began dripping onto metal and made a lot of noise. My night was over at 5:30 a.m. When I told the owner, she said several people had already complained and there was nothing she could do. Such a shame.

The beds were comfortable, breakfast was okay, and the two women serving us were really friendly and helpful. The place itself felt dated and run-down, though, and there was dirt in the bathroom, including hair and dust, as well as in parts of the main room.

The breakfast was a highlight, tasty and clearly made with care. There was filter coffee and machine coffee, which I preferred because it tasted really good, plus a varied choice of salads, fresh fruit and vegetables, and several juices. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, and you could tell they wanted guests to have a good stay. The hotel is about a five-minute walk from the Baltic Sea, along a pleasant route past little shops and welcoming places to eat. The room's furnishings are a bit old, but functional and perfectly adequate, and it had a new TV. I liked the good-sized balcony, with room to sit and relax. Even with the window open, it was pleasantly quiet. The bathroom looked recently renovated, modern, and clean, and the sink height was just right for me. I can't quite relate to some of the critical comments, though perhaps they're more relevant for families with small children. For a nice location, breakfast, and friendly service, this worked really well for me.

Getting around was easy, whether we wanted shops, the train station, or the beach. We had a lovely room, the breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very friendly.
