The owner was so kind and quickly brought us clean sheets when we had a problem. We found this apartment excellent value, too. It’s made entirely of wood, with two bedrooms, a living room, and a small kitchen that has everything needed for cooking. We loved this beautiful part of Thuringia, perhaps our favorite part of the whole trip. A beautiful bike path goes right behind the house. There are two small bakeries/pastries 3 km away, and Bad Frankenhausen is 6 km away, with supermarkets and bike rentals. The Barbarossa Caves are less than a kilometer away, with a large free playground at the entrance.

The hosts were really friendly and available whenever we had questions. It’s a peaceful place to stay, and we felt at home straight away. The apartment was spotless, nicely organized, and thoughtfully furnished. We enjoyed our stay so much that we’d happily book it again. Thank you for a wonderful time!

We had a wonderful time at Blockhaus Barbarossa and wanted for nothing. The house and the area around it are beautiful. We stayed from October 7th to 21st, 2023, and I could easily have stayed another 2-3 weeks.

Everything was very clean, and the price felt just right for what you get. The facilities are perfectly fine, with a barbecue and a separate wooden hut for smokers. Nobody minds the music, and Rottleben makes it easy to get around.

We had a really pleasant short holiday here and would gladly recommend it. The apartments are superbly equipped, the house is great, and the landlord is very nice. The price-performance ratio is absolutely perfect 👍👍👍 Keep it up!
