Altes Kapitänshaus

My friends from Austria were very pleased with this lovely holiday apartment in central Laboe. The beach and harbor are just a few steps away, and there are good, welcoming restaurants nearby.

Laboe is a nice holiday resort, but we can't recommend apartment 10 in the Captain's House. The website photos looked lovely. When we arrived, the refrigerator was switched off, water was leaking from its door, and the door itself was crooked. The balcony door was broken, reportedly since 2022 according to reviews. The toilet and shower were filthy. The bedroom was dark and had a heavy musty smell that wouldn't go away even after airing it out. The mattresses were completely worn out, there was nowhere comfortable to sit, and the furniture was cheap. There was no parasol, and the stereo didn't work. Krausshaar was somewhat okay on site, but the woman on the phone was rude and uncooperative. She said she didn't care about the defects.

Laboe has a lovely beach and makes a nice resort town, but we can't recommend apartment 10 in the Captain's House, which we booked through Kraushaar. The website showed beautiful photos. What we found was a defrosted fridge leaking water from its crooked door, and a balcony door that reviews say has been broken since 2022. The toilet and shower were filthy and moldy. The bedroom was dark and so musty that airing it out made no difference. The mattresses were completely worn, the cheap furniture offered nowhere comfortable to sit, and there was no parasol. The advertised Wi-Fi speed was irrelevant because there was no Wi-Fi at all. The underground garage space was too awkward for larger cars. Getting into the garage also required high ground clearance, and a sports car was sitting on the edge of the ramp. On site, Krausshaar was reasonably okay, but the woman on the phone was rude and uncooperative. She said she didn't care about the flaws and there was nothing she could do.

Apartment 7 was spacious, modern, and in a great spot right in the pedestrian zone. It still felt quiet because it faced the back. The kitchen was very well equipped, the bathroom was modern, and the apartment service was lovely. I was even able to move in early. I'd give it 3.5 stars. The price seemed reasonable in the off-season, but too high during peak season, in my opinion. Other modern apartments in busier areas now offer better value. The building is extremely noisy, so a normal conversation next door can be heard clearly. The parking spots only suit small cars. Cleaning was superficial, with the kitchen cupboards and appliances needing a thorough clean, and the mattress was quite saggy.
