The staff were mostly really nice, friendly and spoke good English, but I had a serious problem with the lady, who I couldn't tell was the owner or manager. She was rude and unfriendly to customers. The village itself is pleasant, with plenty of wineries within walking distance. We visited four family wineries and enjoyed their wines and friendly service. Dining choices in the village are limited, and we didn't care for the hotel's offering. The nearby city has more food options, but you need to drive there. For summer visitors, be aware that only some rooms have air conditioning, as is common in Germany. It gets quite hot, and opening the windows lets in noise. The rooms are OK, but most don't have a fridge, and there's nothing especially impressive about them. The Wi-Fi is poor. Breakfast is very good, while dinner is expensive with very few choices, so I wouldn't recommend it. Parking is limited. There's an electric car charger, but cars parked in those spots usually make it inaccessible.

It’s a pity, because the hotel looks lovely, with beautiful bedrooms and a small garden. I'm writing for future guests after comments from my group somehow disappeared. On our first evening, we'd spent around 100 euros on the hotel's food and drinks, but the mood changed sharply when we tried to enjoy one of our own wine bottles in the garden. They offered no corkage option, and the tone used with us as guests felt completely wrong. We felt uncomfortable for the rest of the stay, especially after seeing other guests arrive late with outside bottles. Those same guests had a few extra parking spots blocked off for them, despite the first come, first serve rule.

Our bay-window room felt very romantic, and we loved it. The hotel is decorated with such care, with lots of details that suit the original building, which I think dates from about 1900. Breakfast was a nice buffet, served in a pleasant outdoor seating area. The one small drawback was the busy road just outside our room. It got quieter overnight, so it shouldn't bother anyone except perhaps a very light sleeper. I imagine the other rooms are quieter, since they're farther from the road.

We've stayed here twice, once on the way to Italy and again on the way home, and were warmly welcomed both times. I didn't have any trouble with traffic noise myself, though summer heat could be an issue. The rooms have fans but no air conditioning. There are plenty of wineries to visit nearby.

This is from a couple who stayed for one night back in 2010. The kindness and service were so good that even five stars don't feel like enough. The room and bathroom were clean, breakfast was delicious, and John and Karin and their children made us feel completely at home. I love this hotel and that family. I'd go to Germany just to see them and stay the night again.
