Mawell Resort

The dining room’s acoustic setup was a real plus. Noise stayed low, so it was easy to talk. The food was excellent, both in quality and range, and the room design was top. The resort is so big that it takes time to find your way around, but the sauna and swimming pool were very clean and well maintained. There was a band in the bar on Saturday, and on Sundays you can stay until 5 pm before checking out.

It was a chill stay. An English version of the menu and information would be helpful. Everyone I spoke to knew English, though, which was really good.

The main issue for us was the restaurant service. Starters and desserts are buffet-style, but we had to hope the staff wouldn’t forget our main course, and they did, every evening. The rest of the service across the resort was very good, but at these prices I don’t think that’s acceptable. The restaurant’s food is high quality, and guests coming in from the spa in bathrobes don’t feel out of place because the room is set up well. We liked our wellness weekend quite a bit. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well designed, and most had nice views. The relaxing areas and some saunas had good views too. The spa has a good selection of saunas and other facilities, though it can get crowded on weekends. The location is nice. Having tried many wellness resorts, I’m not convinced the steep price and luxury ambitions are fully deserved.

The staff were incredibly friendly and thoughtful about every detail, and our room was wonderful, with everything we could think of. My girlfriend and I have stayed at many high-standard resorts, but Mawel Resort was one of the best, maybe even the best. The food was on another level, and the spa and wellness facilities were fantastic. It isn’t cheap, but it’s more than worth it. We’d love to return.
