Hotel Flörke

The garden and pool were beautiful, and the hotel took cleaning and safety very seriously. Several employees were friendly, and breakfast had all the things Germans would want. But we also ran into quite a few problems, and for the price of a four-star hotel, we were disappointed. Our room had odd decor made of a material that felt uncomfortable and looked unappealing. Neither the rainfall shower nor the spray nozzle worked. Some employees were quite rude. The front desk wasn't staffed until 8 a.m., which we hadn't known. We went to check out at 7, called the hotline, and were rudely told about the hours, then hung up on without any suggestion for what to do. Luckily, a worker arrived early and helped us, but first scolded us for not checking out the night before if we wanted to leave "early," saying this was completely normal. I've never stayed at another hotel where the desk was left unattended. For a four-star hotel, several standard amenities were missing: there was no room service or even vending machine, business center, microwave, bar or restaurant, or spa services. We assumed the website's mention of a "spa" meant treatments, but it only meant a pool and sauna, without a hot tub. The sauna was closed because of corona, and the pool was broken for three days of our week-long stay. They did provide body wash and lotion, but the amenity kit was far from what we expected.
