The Kampot pepper with salt really made the meal for me. It comes from my home country, Cambodia, and I know how much work goes into producing even one pepper. Its sharp, bright taste brought back the Khmer way of grinding pepper and salt into a paste for sour fruit. It tasted exactly like that. Finding that flavor here in Laufen was a surprise, almost like coming home. And the dry-aged rib eye was sensational: beautifully seared and perfectly medium rare, with those glorious chunks of fat I order this cut for. The richness was sliced through by the green salad, balancing everything out in a way that felt wunderbar, sensationeel, and unforgettable.

The staff were so friendly, and even the smallest room was more than big enough. The beds and wellness area were great too. Everywhere you look, there’s quality and attention to detail. Even the baking paper under the breakfast cake had the logo on it. The interior and exterior design are awesome, and this was probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. It’s well placed for a trip to the Alps, though I don’t know if there’s much to do nearby. See you next time!

Out of the five hotels we stayed in over eight nights, this was easily the best. The whole place, from the bedrooms and shared areas to the sauna and pool, was beautiful and immaculately clean. Service was friendly and caring. One person in our group wanted food mid-afternoon while the restaurant was closed, and she was very impressed with what they managed to put together. The hotel is only a short walk from town. I probably should have given it five stars, but took off two because Laufen itself was disappointing: not attractive or pretty, and with no life.

The restaurant is a real gem. Everything we had, from starters and main courses to side dishes, was top quality and extremely tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive too. This lovely family-run hotel pays attention to the details. The rooms are modern, spacious, and quiet. The spa has two saunas, a quiet room for relaxing, and an outdoor pool.
