We’d give the apartment 3.5 stars, but since half stars aren’t available, we’re happy to round up. The landlords were friendly, and the complimentary nightcard helped make the fairly high rent feel more reasonable when used often. The apartment is very spacious, and the wooden furnishings are eye-catching, though the professionally taken website photos look a bit better than the place does in person. The house carries sound badly. At times you can hear every word from other residents, and a TV at night is especially disruptive. We’d expected a different view than a neighbor’s garden and the hill behind it. There’s also a main road behind the house, and traffic is quite loud with the window open. A few things could be improved: a hood and light above the stove, more ways to control the living room lights separately, and insect screens on the windows. Mosquito bites that cause inflammation can spoil a holiday. The apartment isn’t suitable for allergy sufferers, as there’s pet hair. The mattresses are much too firm unless you weigh 100 kg or more. There are also too many seats in the living area; we’d prefer fewer, better-quality ones.

We booked a place with a sun terrace and mountain view, but found a balcony with a construction site only 5 meters away. Work started at 7:00 AM, and the mountain view was partly blocked. The website now mentions this. On warm, sunny days the bedrooms get very hot, and there’s no air conditioning. Opening the windows at night only works if noise doesn’t bother you: there’s a main road behind the building, while construction can be heard out front from 7:00 AM. The apartment itself is spacious and comfortable, with a particularly well-equipped kitchen. The Königscard was included in the rental price and turned out to be very good value.

The upper-floor apartment had a lovely log cabin feel, with the scent of natural wood making it warm and homey. It stayed comfortable even in summer, and the natural materials and quality furnishings made it feel especially cozy. There’s loads of space and it’s equipped really well. A great base for trips to the royal castles, Füssen, and the surrounding area.

We’ll be staying with the Meiers again for our next Allgäu trip. The hosts are veteran innkeepers, and “tough but kind” really does fit them. They were friendly and very helpful, and families with dogs are especially welcome. They have two lovely Saint Bernards themselves. The new wooden house stayed pleasantly cool in summer, even up in the attic. The garden is still being landscaped, but the hosts are gardeners, so I’m sure it’ll turn out beautifully. There’s a washer and dryer, a big fridge with a freezer, and a kitchen stocked with pretty much everything you could want. Each bedroom and the living room have a flat-screen TV, with a smart TV and Blu-ray player in the living room too. If you can, take the convertible out for a day, even though it costs extra. Driving through those incredible landscapes with the top down was unforgettable. I recommend the place highly.
