We were so unsettled when we walked in that we left and found somewhere else to stay. The place looked abandoned, like nobody had used it in years, and there were spiders all over the dirty rooms. Sleeping there felt frightening.

The room was passable for the price, but the showers really weren't. One had mold on the doors and cracks; I used the hallway shower instead, where the wall was broken but at least there was no mold. The stairs are steep and feel dangerous, and quite a few things need replacing, including the very worn pillows and mattresses. They should put money into basics like mold spray too, not just take it in. Blackout curtains are needed in both the bedroom and bathroom. I don't want to be watched while changing or showering. Even sweeping outside and pulling a few weeds would make the place feel more welcoming. This was a one-time stay for us. Unfortunately, I do NOT recommend it.

The owner was generous with breakfast refills, and breakfast is free for €5. She was very hospitable, even if she can come across a little gruff at first. She also sorted out an HRS error without making a fuss, although she wasn't obliged to. Our big, cozy room could have used blackout curtains, but otherwise it was great. The location is especially good for cyclists in summer, with Lake Cospuden just 1.5 km away and a quiet street. The key box is easy to spot once you've opened the gate.

We booked three single rooms while in town for the Women's Handball World Championship, and would happily stay again. The owners' little chats were especially nice, and they took time to handle special requests. The rooms were clean and looked after, with fresh towels every day and extra pillows available. Breakfast was simple, carefully prepared, and filling, which is what matters most. The service felt just like home. Stay here if you'd like to experience Leipzig and meet some locals too.

I decided against booking after a pretty poor first phone call. I asked about a double room for a weekend and got only a curt “No, there's nothing.” When I mentioned that HRS still showed rooms available, there was no reply. I then asked whether they could add an extra bed for one night if I booked through HRS, and got another simple “no.” That's not customer service.
