The location in the Zentrum is handy for food and drinks. There are at least 20 eateries, restaurants, and fast food places within a five-minute walk, plus places to drink in every direction with beer on tap for every taste. The staff are extremely polite and friendly, speak moderate to great English, or mostly understand if they don't, and can offer maps and suggestions for nearby attractions. There was more to see in Leipzig than I could fit into a week. The hotel seems built with efficiency and energy conservation in mind. My room was cozy with the basics, and the bathroom was nice and functional, with a hair dryer, probably a low-wattage one. Breakfast runs from 7 to 11am, which is a big plus if you're dealing with jetlag. The dining room has a sunroom that makes a bright, colorful spot for breakfast pictures. The room doors use cards, as does the main entrance at night, so non-guests can't get in. Checkout was easy, just drop the key card in a box at reception. There's a mini playground and bookshelves full of storybooks there to keep little ones occupied during check-in, checkout, or while passing through. I'd suggest adding more English-language channels beyond France24 English and CNN.

If you're after a basic room at very good value and expect to be out most of the day, this is a solid option. There's no public hangout area apart from the breakfast room for diners, but the location is extremely convenient, close to bars, coffee shops, restaurants, and a quick tram ride of about 10 minutes to the city centre. It's a no-frills budget hotel, with free street parking.

The worst part was the staff. They were unprofessional, unfriendly, and generally rude, especially toward non-German guests. The breakfast was totally inedible, I didn't touch it. The hotel is old and needs maintenance. Terrible stay, and I'd recommend avoiding this place.

The rooms are small, but quite comfortable for a few nights, and the staff were very helpful. It's a great value hotel, about a 30-minute walk from the main station. Can't complain, I'd use it again!

The room was clean and the staff were friendly, so those are the two stars. The room photos on booking didn't match what I got, and I paid quite a lot for such a small space. There was a piece of cloth in front of the window instead of a curtain.
