NH Leipzig Messe

The hotel team pay attention to the smallest details, which really helps make for a great stay. The rooms seem to have been completely refurbished recently; they’re well equipped, cozy, and kept clean even with the mess the kids left behind. My family and I spent a couple of days at NH Leipzig Messe during one of the Federation of the European Societies of Neuropsychology’s biggest fairs.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and both the range and quality of the food were very good. My room was clean, tidy, and well furnished. I also appreciated having a single mattress topper instead of two halves. The bathroom felt a little dated, and the shower pressure could have been stronger. Still, it was a very good stay. The location is ideal if you’re there for the conference center, though there isn’t much else nearby since it’s an industrial area. The nearby tram and trains are a 10-15 minute walk, and from there you can get into town.

A really nice option in Leipzig, very close to the Messe. The employees are the best, and the new rooms are really nice too.

I’ve been a loyal NH Hotels guest for years, held Platinum status for a long time, and stayed around 40-70 nights a year on business across Germany. NH has usually been one of the most reliable choices for business travel, with consistently good quality, service, and atmosphere. NH Leipzig has been no exception, and my stays there have always been excellent. Frequent travelers’ needs are taken seriously and handled professionally. In particular, Front office manager Marko Maric and Team and Bartender Finn are outstanding, courteous, and professional. They’re real assets to the hotel. That’s why I’m so disappointed by a new policy apparently in place across NH Hotels since September 1st. In my view, it significantly worsens the guest experience: rooms are now cleaned only if you explicitly ask at reception. The policy is mentioned on a small, light-blue card handed out at check-in, which is easy to miss. Business travelers rushing through check-in just to collect a key can easily overlook it, perhaps intentionally. There are no door signs or hangers to request cleaning, and no automatic housekeeping as you’d expect at a quality hotel. You have to go to reception yourself and ask. If you forget, as I did, the room is left as it is: wet towels, unmade beds, full trash bins, and general untidiness. I don’t think that’s acceptable for a business hotel in this category. After a long day of meetings, frequent guests should be able to return to a freshly cleaned room, especially after years of NH’s high standards. I understand that hotel chains are looking for sustainability and cost savings, but this approach feels impractical, unfriendly to guests, and too easy to overlook. The result is a noticeable drop in comfort. It’s a real shame, because NH Hotels are otherwise strong, reliable places that care about quality. That’s exactly why this policy bothers me so much. I hope NH reconsiders it for the sake of loyal guests and staff, or offers easier options, such as housekeeping preferences in the guest profile, door hangers, or automatic daily cleaning for certain status levels. Otherwise, NH risks losing trust and satisfaction, especially among loyal business travelers. I also feel sorry for the excellent team around Front Office Manager Marco and bartender Finn. Frustrated guests will naturally take their irritation over uncleaned rooms out on the staff, even though it isn’t their fault. NH Group has lost a star in my recommendation, which used to be five stars, and probably many frequent business travelers and very good customers, including me. So sorry to see NH Hotels losing quality so drastically.
