Make sure to add breakfast, it was so good! We’re from the U.S., and tasting real butter and bread for the first time was a treat. The hotel is two blocks from everything, with bus and train stations right outside the doors. You might expect noise there, but it was quiet. Couldn’t ask for a better hotel!

SchlafGut is a decent apartment hotel, with a different feel from modern chain hotels. The family running it do their best to meet guests’ needs. There’s a comfortable sofa bed as well as a double bed, and a kitchenette with a fridge, electric stove, exhaust, cookware, cups, knives, and other basics for anyone who wants to cook. A coffee maker, electric kettle, and hot and cold shower water are included too. The location is excellent, with plenty of Art deco buildings nearby and lots of restaurants serving continental food. It looks a little expensive, but it’s convenient.

The little kitchenette had everything I needed for a short stay, and the bed was comfortable. The linen, though, was really worn and could do with replacing. It’s a very basic place, but the price is low and the location near Leipzig’s old town is spot on. I’d stay again.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean, simple, and cozy enough for a stay in Lipsia. It’s only about a five-minute walk to the city center. There’s also a fascinating wooden spiral staircase in the building, apparently the oldest one still standing in Leipzig.
