Ferienwohnung Schwarzwald-Alpenblick

The terrace view is hard to describe, especially when looking into the distance. We only got a brief glimpse of the Alps once because of the weather. We’ve seen plenty of vacation apartments along the roadside, and we think the location up in Kappel am Berg is unbeatable. It’s also a great base for Black Forest outings, with lakes, gorges, mountains, waterfalls, hikes, and more within a 30-minute radius. We recommend the valley near Menzenschwand. Many thanks to the Buck family for the lovely, wonderful furnishings. We agree completely with the other reviews: a superb apartment that leaves nothing to be desired.

We spent New Year’s Eve here with my partner and a friend, hoping to start the year somewhere peaceful. The photos had set our expectations high, and the place lived up to them, from the welcome Prosecco in the fridge to the amenities and almost clinical cleanliness. We only have a couple of small suggestions. The kitchen has nearly everything, but just one wooden spoon and no wooden or plastic spatula. A spatula would help protect the coated pans, and unfortunately one pan’s coating is already damaged, apparently by a previous tenant. It would also be useful to have a laminated instruction card for the whirlpool tub, like the ones provided for several other appliances. Those cards were a helpful touch. These are very minor points, so I can only give five stars. Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Buck for such an excellent stay.

The included Hochschwarzwald Card was a great benefit, with many activities at much lower prices or free, plus public transport across the Black Forest between Karlsruhe and Basel. Kappel itself has limited services, but Lenzkirch is 3 km away and has what you need, from a bakery and butcher to Edeka and a discount store. We also recommend an evening at the walkable, rustic Gasthof Blume, where they serve hearty Black Forest food with great hospitality. The owner's daughter, who lives in the same house with her family, gave us a warm welcome. We spent a wonderful week there in June 2020. The apartment is modern and had everything we needed, with a peaceful setting, a stunning view, a fully equipped kitchen, and tasteful, elegant furnishings. It was a perfect holiday.
