Saigerhöh

We spent four nights at Saigerhöh with two adults, two kids, and our dog, on half board. The location was great, and the suite felt spacious and cozy. There was a lot to enjoy, including the sauna area, heated indoor and outdoor pools, games rooms, and fitness studio. The Wi-Fi was poor. Dinner came as a five-dish course rather than a buffet, which some people may find less convenient, and a few dishes were a bit too salty. The food was generally delicious, though, and we'd warmly recommend the hotel.

The views over the valley and the wellness area were the real highlights for us. The spa has potential, though I think more could be done with the space. The building and architecture felt uninspiring, and the hotel sits at the end of a dead-end road, past a football field and small construction site, with some forest around it on top of a hill. Our welcome drink was offered on a small, half-covered terrace that also serves as the main smoking area. We stayed about five minutes. When I asked reception if sitting among smokers was standard, they seemed puzzled. The hotel is large, spread across both sides of the street and linked by underground tunnels. A student worker gave us a helpful short tour. Our room was huge but extremely dated, like the decor hadn't changed since my grandmother's time, so it was hard to feel comfortable. The bathroom had been renovated recently, which makes me think some rooms haven't yet been updated. Service at the bar was very slow. Though only three tables had guests, it took over 30 minutes to get our two drinks. We ate dinner there once, at €60 per person, and were really disappointed. The dishes looked nice, but the quality was well below what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel. The risotto was unpleasant and far too salty, and the fish, though supposedly filleted, hadn't been cleaned properly. Service at dinner and breakfast also felt disorganized, with staff seeming lost and no clear supervision. Our dessert went to the wrong table, was taken back to the kitchen, then brought to us after the sorbet had completely melted. That was enough for us to eat elsewhere for the other four nights. It seemed other guests were doing the same, since staff encouraged people at breakfast to reserve dinner and even circulated a form for choosing meals in advance. Breakfast had a fairly wide selection, but didn't feel 4-star quality either. Some food wasn't fresh or presented well, including low-quality salmon and sour fruit described as freshly cut. It was also a struggle to find a terrace table because there weren't enough. We arrived with mixed feelings and tried to describe the stay fairly, but beyond the views and wellness facilities, I wouldn't recommend Hotel Saigerhöh and won't return.

We had a great three-day stay at Hotel Saigerhoh, with plenty to do inside, especially for kids who love the pool. I really liked the relaxation lounges, and the view was breathtaking. The rooms felt pretty average, though the shower was great. My main disappointment was the restaurant menu, which had hardly any options for people who don't eat beef. I wish they'd offer more.

The views from the hotel's location are amazing, and the staff are nice. Breakfast was great, and I liked the infinity pool, although it felt a bit cool on colder days. The room, however, was very outdated, and neither the shower nor the room floors were cleaned during our stay.
