Limburgerhof Hotel & Residenz

The lack of air conditioning made the room unbearably hot in summer, and opening the window meant listening to trains go by. My room wasn’t fully painted, and the refrigerator didn’t work. When we brought that up, all we got was “we know.” It was my first stay and the whole experience was a mess. I can’t understand the four-star rating. There are better hotels in the region, so I’d avoid this one. They won’t see me here again. A disgrace.

There wasn’t much to do around Limburgerhof. At the hotel, though, the staff were friendly and attentive, the rooms were spacious, and they could provide whatever I asked for. I liked having bikes to get around, but some were in poor condition, and I had to switch bikes twice during my five-day stay. The food was nice, and staff were happy to make me something that wasn’t on the menu, though the restaurant menu itself had limited options. My room’s bed was awful, with no proper blanket or duvet and a terrible pillow.

The free parking lot was a real plus, with plenty of spaces. I’ve stayed here more than once because I think the price is good for what you get. Reception staff were nice, and breakfast had a good range of products, though sometimes items weren’t ready on time and took too long to come out. The gym was open early on some days but not others. I appreciated being able to use the reclining bike indoors before 7 a.m. as long as I wasn’t making too much noise. The weights area needs work: some things are missing and some are set up wrong. There were also days with no towels, water fountain, or disinfectant, which should be available. Only one of the three rooms I stayed in had a working refrigerator. As it gets warmer outside, having one in the room would be a plus. Once I got more hot chocolate powder and cookies, but on other days I didn’t, so I’m not sure what the policy is. It should be consistent. Some doors also needed a hard swing to shut.

Getting to Mannheim by train was easy, and the bar was open with friendly staff. The hotel was super clean, and the staff were helpful and very friendly. Breakfast had a good variety, with plenty to eat.
