Das Mietwerk

The breakfast cost €10 and had little variety, bad coffee, and cold milk. Coffee from the machine cost extra. We also had to wait outside for 30 minutes until 3pm, even though the receptionist was inside, and there was nowhere to leave our luggage. We had a private room, but the shower was shared. The bunk bed had no towels, and the price felt high at €30 plus €10 for breakfast.

The location is a bit out of the way, and finding it from the train station was confusing. It was a relaxing stay, though, with friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms. I thought it was a little pricey for what you get. Breakfast was expensive too, and you can get a nicer, cheaper one in the touristy spots in the old town, so I'd eat there instead.

I hadn't expected to share a room with both boys and girls, though maybe I could have checked that beforehand. The restrooms were nice and clean, and it was a good place to sleep. Breakfast was excellent quality, with good bread and cereal that was just okay. Still, it was a good place to stay.

The staff's attitude made this one of the most unpleasant hostels I've stayed in. I need to prepare my own food for a special diet. At first I was told I could use the sink in the breakfast room, but then they said my food prep counted as kitchen use and there was no shared kitchen. They gave me no alternative and later made me leave the other communal space too. I ended up preparing food in the back garden in the dark, with only a little light from the shared room. Then they switched that light off, to the surprise of the people socialising inside. It was 11:30 after all, so I finished preparing my food by the light of my phone. Aurel Sommerlad was responsible for this treatment, and he was one of the most unpleasant and pathetic men I've ever encountered. The rest of the place wasn't much better. My tiny six-bed room cost €30. There were only two showers for the whole huge hostel, two floors above my room, and they were dirty with weak water pressure. There was no atmosphere. If people chatted indoors in the evening, staff chased them out because almost every room was used for beds, so nobody could talk without disturbing sleepers. Outside, the residential neighbours shouted at people talking there. A massive pile of scheiße!
