The rooms are spacious, modern, and clean, and the village is quiet. We’ve stayed here four times over the years. It’s a very nice stop when you’re on a road trip, with friendly, helpful staff and a restaurant and breakfast that are especially convenient after a long drive.

The town is quaint, and people are so friendly and keen to chat. Ask about the tree with a pipe embedded in it: the town was once on a military ammunition train route, and an explosion during WWII scattered pieces everywhere. The pipes in the tree are from that blast. At the hotel, our private room had plenty of space for us and all our luggage. We were too warm, so the staff brought us fans. Even though we arrived late for breakfast, they cooked fresh eggs and brought out bread just for us. They happily helped with anything we needed. They were patient while we managed with limited German or Google Translate, and there was always someone nearby who spoke English.

It’s just a two-minute walk from the train station, which is handy. We love Balland's Hotel. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the place is clean and well appointed, and the breakfast buffet has a little bit of everything. There’s also a wonderful full menu at the restaurant.

We walked around the lovely neighborhood with our children. There are lots of cornfields, and everyone we met was so kind. The hotel is very nice, the staff fantastic, and we’d love to come back!
