I've stayed here twice this year, with the second visit lasting a week. This charming hotel has its own distinctive furnishings, and the hosts are a genuinely friendly couple. Breakfast was generous, with homemade rolls and their own honey. The refined cooking was a real treat, making this a hidden gem for more than just a stopover.

The rooms are clean and practical, with a nostalgic feel. What stands out most is how much character and personal care comes through everywhere, from the decorated hall and reception to the dining room. The owners welcomed us warmly, with humor and cheer, and paid close attention to what we might want for breakfast and dinner. They more than delivered. The homemade meals, delicious wine, and Portuguese touches made the food alone worth the trip. Michelin-star worthy! We'd love to return.

The setting didn't feel as peaceful as advertised, since a busy country road runs alongside the village, which otherwise seemed forgotten and short on anything distinctive. The room was dark, cold, and much too small, with a little window facing a black flat roof. There was almost nowhere to put things, so our luggage ended up on the floor around the bed. The bathroom barely had room for two people, and the narrow shower had only a plastic curtain. At most, this could work as an extra room for children, not for adults. The decor is presented as artistic, but to me it looked more like flea market finds. Taste is subjective, of course.

We picked this country inn for the night while cycling through Schleswig-Holstein, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The owners welcomed us warmly into the newly renovated building, which has been furnished with real care. Dinner was delicious, and we slept well. Breakfast ran long as we had a nice, extended conversation with the innkeeper and other guests. We set off later than planned, but with plenty of ideas and inspiration for the rest of our tour. The inviting atmosphere makes this inn easy to recommend as a hotel or restaurant.
