NH Ludwigsburg

I could leave my luggage at the hotel for a few hours before leaving town, and the staff were friendly. Online check-in lets you choose your room. The hotel was perfect for my short stay in Ludwigsburg and very easy to reach from the train station.

The location was just right, close to the train station, where dm, tedi, and netto are also located. I really liked the breakfast spread. Staff were professional and flexible, too. Nothing to complain about.

The rooms were nice, the beds were great, and the service was good. Breakfast was the part I didn’t like. How does a hotel serve breakfast without bacon? It was the same stuff every day, fine for a night or two, but I wasn’t impressed.

Being so close to the station is handy, but the surrounding area feels dead and ugly, with featureless office buildings. An events hall next door had a concert during our stay, and it was loud and rowdy until 3am. Ludwigsburg is a pretty little town, and there must be nicer hotels at this price. I’d looked forward to staying at NH Ludwigsburg because I’d often used NH properties around Europe years ago. The old quirky touches seem to be gone, like bedtime story booklets on the console and chocolates on the pillow. Instead, it felt like a low-cost room. There was no mini-fridge, and the central air conditioning wasn’t working or was switched off. You have to specifically request room cleaning, or it won’t be done. Basic toiletries came in refillable jars, but there were no slippers, even at reception.
