Viva Hotel Lübeck

For a budget stay in Lübeck, this is a good way to avoid the more expensive places in or near the city centre. The rooms are simple but spacious and very good for a budget hotel. We had a family room, with a sofa made up as a bed for our son, and all the beds were comfortable. The hotel is next to a busy road, but the insulated windows and German-style electric shutters kept the noise out well. I imagine it could get hot in a heat wave, although there was a fan. Self check-in was easy. When something goes wrong, the reception at the nearby hotel, about 50 metres away, can help; I assume it’s run by the same company. Buses to the centre via the main station run frequently.

The reception staff member who helped us at about 11:30 AM on April 26 made a real difference to our stay. After we transferred from another hotel, she arranged an early check-in, and we really appreciated her help. Our room was spotless, with freshly laundered towels and bed linen. Having a kettle with tea and coffee in the room was a nice comfort too.

We appreciated how helpful the young woman at reception was when we arrived around 7:00 PM on April 19th. She helped us with charging our car, parking, and check-in. The room was clean, with fresh towels and bed linen, and it was nice to have tea, coffee, and a kettle there. We did miss having a fridge, and parking cost €15.

Parking in the garage was easy, and it included charging for our EV. The hotel is within walking distance of the Altstadt, though the location itself isn’t especially impressive. We were happy with our stay overall. The only real issue was that automatic check-in didn’t work when we arrived, so we went to the hotel reception 50 metres away and got checked in there.
