An der Klosterpforte

It was okay.

Great location.

We couldn't get any sleep until a wedding downstairs had finished. The music and guests chatting outside carried straight up to our room, which was directly above the hall. Nobody mentioned the event when we checked in, so we had no warning. The hotel was barely occupied. It would've made sense to put us on a side where the celebration couldn't be heard, especially since the quiet we expected wasn't there.

We booked the Valentine's Day dinner for two by phone, after seeing the event advertised online. The restaurant wasn't full, but the service was slow and pretty unfriendly despite there being plenty of staff. We waited 30 minutes just to order drinks, then around 50 minutes for a beer and a bottle of water to arrive. After an hour and a half there was still no food. When I asked the waitress politely, she gave no explanation, just empty words, and nobody apologized. Other tables also seemed more and more unhappy with the wait. The four-course menu had no vegetarian option. The room, tables and general atmosphere felt bare and unwelcoming, and it seemed like regulars got better treatment. Our first course finally came after 1 hour and 45 minutes. I suspect it was only because I asked, since guests seated before us got theirs even later. Staff also left empty plates sitting around for ages while walking past them, and when a glass spilled at the next table and soaked the tablecloth, none of the waiters reacted. The prices were outrageous, and the whole experience left me very disappointed. We can't recommend this restaurant at all.
