Leonardo Hotel Mainz

We spent four nights here and really enjoyed the stay. The room was roomy and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. The staff were nice, too. It's close to both the train station and the city center, so we walked everywhere, even with our luggage when we arrived. No need for a bus. We'd recommend it!

The room itself was spacious and comfortable, though the plug beside the bed didn't work. We'd been driving for five hours and were hungry and tired when we got there, but nobody was at the front desk to check us in. We rang the bell several times and waited a long time before someone came out. After we finally checked in, three other staff members emerged from different rooms. It felt as if they’d all been inside the whole time, waiting for someone else to answer the “annoying guest ringing the bell”.

The room door takes force to shut, and there's no physical lock. The service was also very poor: reception was unattended about half the time, and I spent three days trying to get an iron. Each time I was told it would arrive in five minutes, but it never did. On the fourth day, I was told they had no irons left, with no apology or effort to fix the problem. As other guests have mentioned, only one elevator works, and it’s very slow. Staff use it for bulky items, leaving guests to wait, and nobody seems concerned about repairing the other elevator.

I loved the mix of cozy rooms and modern high-tech features. Breakfast was great, too. The main train station is a short walk one way, and the city center is easy to reach on foot in the other direction. Such a good location!
