Our six-person apartment had plenty of room for three couples, and we especially liked gathering on the new, large couch in the shared TV room. Everything was immaculate, well cared for, and thoughtfully furnished. The modern bathrooms and underfloor heating throughout added extra comfort. The host family welcomed us warmly and were always available, whether we needed hiking suggestions, wanted to hear about animal husbandry, or just needed someone to listen. Booking was easy too: they replied within a day, then got in touch before arrival to coordinate everything. It all worked out wonderfully. Up here, you can really get away from Berchtesgaden's tourist bustle. The apartment sits among green alpine meadows, with cows grazing nearby, and the quiet makes it easy to breathe deeply. At night it's completely dark, ideal for stargazing, with cowbells softly ringing you to sleep. From the window, we could see the Kehlsteinhaus lit up in the evening on one side and the majestic Untersberg massif on the other. There's plenty for children to explore, including a nest swing, a playhouse with a kitchen, and animals they can meet up close. We saw a friendly dog to pet, a hunting cat, two rabbits, many chickens, two pigs, lots of cows, calves, and even a stately bull. We felt completely at home and can wholeheartedly recommend it to hikers, families, or anyone wanting a break in nature.
