Hotel & Restaurant Zum goldenen Schwanen

The food was excellent.

The rooms were a real highlight, nicely furnished and very clean. The innkeepers were also kind, friendly, and accommodating. We came for a short break after the inn’s advertised value for money caught our eye, and booked two nights with breakfast and dinner. Italian food lovers will be very happy here. There was plenty of it, and it was excellent. One evening we had a three-course meal, the other a candlelit dinner. Breakfast came as a big buffet with something for everyone. If it weren’t so far from home, we’d eat here regularly. Thanks for a lovely stay and delicious meals. We’ll definitely be back.

The room was modern, clean, and very nice, but the shower pressure was so low that taking a shower was almost impossible. We stayed at the Landgasthof zum Goldenen Schwanen for two nights over New Year’s Eve. Food was okay, with Italian dishes, though nothing especially memorable. The rest of the inn felt quite dated and in some spots run-down. Decorations seem intended to cover that up, but only partly succeed. We were the only guests in the building on the first night, and there were just two other guests the next night. That made it unsettling to see Google/Booking showing every room as fully booked. The woman we took to be the owner was usually friendly, but seemed somewhat rude when we raised criticism. Other reviews and the responses to them give a similar impression. Payment was odd too. Apparently, only “special” debit cards are accepted. The machine showed our Visa card as accepted, but she absolutely refused to let us use it. The stay was pleasant enough, but we definitely wouldn’t return.

Both theater performances were sold out, with 130 guests at each, yet we didn’t have to wait long for food or drinks. The organization was superb, and the service was excellent. We’d booked a package with Tuscan dinners and theater performances. The varied three-course meal was very tasty, and the food was delicious throughout. We extended our stay by two days, enjoyed more Tuscan cuisine, and went on two lovely excursions. We’d love to come back!
